Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a standardised test being administered since 1988 to facilitate Business Schools (B-Schools) to push candidates for admission to MBA and allied programmes. Govt. of India, Ministry of HRD approved MAT as a national level test in 2003. Any B-School - national or international - can consider MAT Score as an admission input based on the Score Cards issued to the candidates. The largest test of its kind in the nation, MAT will continue over 600 B-Schools across India.

The AIMA-MAT is usually conducted 4 times a year: generally on the first Sunday of February, May, September and December on at both paper based mode and computer based mode A candidate can take any one of the two testing formats. While the paper-based test is conducted only one day, the computer-based test is conducted in the week following it over a window of approximately a week.As per the eligibility norms prescribed by AIMA, the conducting body of MAT exam, the candidates who have completed their graduation can apply for MAT exam. The final year graduation students can also apply for the exam,but with certain conditions.
